Buy a pair of child-sized socks (if you have a lot of kids, you can save money by buying multi-packs from a pound shop or supermarket).

Remove all the labels etc from the socks, and place one sock inside the other to form a little "bag".

Buy some pick 'n' mix sweets and almost fill the sock "bag" with the sweets, leaving enough space at the top to tie it off with a piece of ribbon.

This is a really cheap stocking filler idea and it doesn't have to be limited to children's Christmas stockings; it'll work just as well for adults.
